Residential Care Home in Selsey

Located by the West Sussex coast, Sussex Grange is a spacious residential care home for 20 elderly people in the peaceful coastal town of Selsey, eight miles south of Chichester. The home is ideally situated in a quiet street just a short walk from the high street and the seafront.

Our overriding philosophy at Sussex Grange is to provide a comfortable residential home that offers all the care, choices and opportunities that we would want for ourselves and our loved ones as we grow older, including:

Clean and spacious accommodation

A wide variety of home-cooked meals using a good selection of fresh fruit & vegetables, as well as fresh meat from the village butcher.

A range of entertainment and activities within the home

Outings to locations chosen by our residents

A level of round-the-clock residential care that meets every physical and emotional need whilst helping to maintain as much independence as you or your loved one desires. Our compassionate and caring team are committed to giving all our residents the quality of life and respect they deserve.

Accommodation & Residential Care

Much of the splendour, character and appearance of the original Tudor-style house has been retained with features including a panelled dining room and Victorian drawing room. Blended in with the older character of the building we have introduced modern features to enhance the comfort and security of the residents including an electronic fire alarm and fire safety equipment, all of which is checked and serviced regularly.

All bedrooms in our residential care home are of a good size, some rooms are located on the first floor, which can be accessed by a passenger lift or wide staircase; ground floor rooms boast their own patio area.  Rooms are decorated to a fresh and comfortable design ready for moving in, but we welcome you to bring in items from home to personalise the space.   Every bedroom in our care home has an en suite bathroom with washbasin, toilet and bath or shower.

The Gardens at Sussex Grange

The garden is a particular feature of Sussex Grange residential home, which is situated in a plot of almost 2/3 of an acre. A level footpath leads around the perimeter of the garden weaving between flowerbeds and lawns.

There is a large, covered fishpond and there are a variety of trees and shrubs, which provide a high degree of privacy for the home.

Residents are encouraged to take part in outdoor activities or clubs in the garden such as birdwatching, planting pots and filling bird feeders.

The garden has a variety of communal seating areas and more secluded and quiet seating areas. Families enjoy visiting with our residents in the garden, relaxing in the surroundings, and enjoying the fresh sea air of Selsey

Residential Care Facilities & Services

Regular entertainment and activities are provided within the home. Our activities coordinator regularly meets with the residents to find out what they would like to see on the activities programme. Regular sessions include reminiscence, bingo, singing, armchair exercise, board games & quizzes.

We promote intergenerational relationships by engaging in activities with the local schools around Chichester and elsewhere in West Sussex.  They provide entertainment for our residents who, in turn, assist them with their project work.

At Sussex Grange, arrangements exist for various therapeutic services within the care home or elsewhere by arrangement. Services include chiropody, dentistry, hairdressing, physiotherapy, and optical care. Registration with a GP in or around Chichester and Selsey can be with a practice of the resident’s choosing (if the GP is in agreement).
